The European Transport Conference (ETC) is the annual conference of the Association for European Transport. It brings together policymakers, researchers, and mobility experts from across Europe to discuss the latest developments and challenges in transport and mobility. ETC offers a wide range of topics, interactive sessions, and many opportunities for knowledge exchange for everyone involved in sustainable and future-proof mobility.

Themes of ETC 2026

The European Transport Conference (ETC) is centred around the theme “Bridging Minds, Building Mobility.” The conference brings together mobility professionals, researchers, and policymakers to share knowledge and develop solutions for current and future mobility challenges. From walking and cycling to aviation and freight transport, and from research and modelling to implementation and evaluation, ETC creates space for exchange between policy, practice, and academia.

The main themes include:

  • The transition to a climate-neutral and circular transport system.
  • Sustainable mobility and accessibility in a polarised world.
  • Transport planning and delivery with shrinking budgets.
  • New forms of future-proof public transport.
  • Resilient and adaptable transport systems.
  • Shortages of labour, infrastructure, energy, and resources.
  • The use of technology, data, AI, and digital twins in mobility.
  • Safe, healthy, and inclusive mobility for current and future generations.
  • Accessible and comfortable cities for all ages and abilities.
  • New models, methods, and decision-support tools for mobility planners.
