Emma Stubbe
mobility and spatial planning consultant
Six cities, four countries, each with its own cycling culture and mobility challenges. My experience of living in different places is both my biggest source of inspiration and my core motivation in my work: I believe we can learn a great deal from one another, and that international cooperation can bring sustainable mobility within closer reach.
With a background in Philosophy, Politics and International Relations, I approach mobility challenges from a broad perspective. For me, mobility is about much more than movement: it touches on some of the most pressing challenges of our time: from climate change and just transitions, to public health, housing, inequality and the way people live together in cities. That is why I value contributing, even in small ways, to solutions that reach beyond my own field.
My work focuses on cycling infrastructure, urban mobility and policy, with international cooperation and knowledge exchange at its heart. I draw on experience with similar mobility challenges in different countries to translate international lessons into practical insights, making them relevant to each local context and turning shared ambitions into concrete, achievable steps.
I enjoy bringing clarity to complex collaborations. By listening carefully and asking the right, and sometimes challenging, questions, I help people move forward collectively. I look not only at the issue itself, but also at the political and social context in which decisions are made. This helps create solutions that are clear, well-supported and able to make a real difference.
At Goudappel, I split my time between project work and building international partnerships. Working with dedicated colleagues, partners and clients, I help turn mobility and spatial challenges into thoughtful, lasting change.
